Another issue Susan felt strongly about was abortion. She felt that even the
unborn had a right to live and women were not to blame for what society was doing to prevent
women from caring for her family. Along the journey, Susan was able to open a center for
battered women that provided counseling and shelter. She struggled to get women the right
to earn as much money as African Americans in the workforce and after that was a success,
equal pay for women and men. The road traveled was not an easy one for Anthony. She was
arrested, harassed, refused by the political party, and many other horrible things. But,
that didn't stop her and that is one reason she is a legend.

Although Susan was not married and had no biological children, she fought laws that denied custody to a mother
if the father of her children was deceased. Susan fought to keep children with their
biological mother instead of them being forcibly taken from their mother and placed in
the care of a guardian that was previously appointed by the father.
After many sit-ins, petitions, and speeches, Susan succeeded in giving women the
right to vote. Sadly she did not have the chance to vote freely because she died before
the time came. Although abortion is still an issue today, Susan made a big difference for
women in many other ways and should be acknowledged for her bravery, beliefs, and courage
that she displayed so valiantly for what she thought was right. Susan was a very selfless
and caring person who has gone down in history and should never be forgotten.
